Description
Hanoi, known as a tourist city, has many ancient beauties and a very developed culture, tourists coming here cannot ignore the diverse and rich relic complex of the city. Located in the east of Thang Long Citadel, the architectural complex of Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam includes Van Lake, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam area, and Giam Park, the main architecture is Temple of Literature - a place to worship Confucius, and Quoc Tu Giam - the first university of Vietnam. Since ancient times, the Vietnamese people have attached great importance to education. That education has produced for the country many talents in the fields of culture, politics, diplomacy, and military... glorifying the country's history. In particular, study promotion activities are interesting and implemented by both the Government and the citizen. From a historical perspective, the Temple of Literature is the biggest evidence demonstrating the study promotion policy. Built in the Ly Dynasty, this place was used to worship the saints and Confucian sages, and for the Crown Prince and noble children to study. Later under the Tran dynasty, Quoc Tu Giam gradually expanded its scale, including popular elite students' study.

Today, at the monument of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, the study promotion work is still carried out. Every year, many schools at all levels, educational institutions, families, and thousands of students across the country come to organize the incense offering ceremony, honoring and rewarding to encourage the study and the next generation. young. These activities are the continuation and promotion of his father's good study promotion tradition in the new conditions. Besides, this is also a place to visit for domestic and foreign tourists. In particular, this is also the place where today's students come for "good luck" before each important exam.

Like many other students, I was brought here by my parents for good luck before the exams. This has a great spiritual meaning, gives self-confidence, and helps you have more energy to complete the exam well. This is a unique culture of Vietnam, handed down through generations. Although it has gone through many changes and ups and downs in history, it still retains the traditional beauty of the Hanoi people. It is a beautiful spiritual value that has been preserved for many years.

Another unique aspect of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is the combination and interaction between the architectures in the complex. Although divided into many areas, separated by large walls and doors, the ancient harmonious scenery and majestic atmosphere are maintained throughout the process of going inside.

Tourists who come to Hanoi should visit the Temple of Literature destination at least once to better understand Hanoi's unique traditional culture and experience it for themselves.

Action

Temple of Literature is a tourist destination open to everyone to visit every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Through observation, the action part is divided into 3 different types: Tourism, Spirituality, and Activities of the surrounding residents.

Because this is a famous tourist destination, most people here are visitors including both Vietnamese and foreigners. Foreign tourists, come here to learn about the history of Vietnam, they visit, take pictures, and exchange culture. Besides, many annual activities are still held regularly, to spread culture and stimulate tourism, on these days tourists are more crowded than usual.

In terms of spirituality, tourists often come to the Temple of Literature during festivals and holidays to pray for good luck in studying in the new year. Moreover, this is also the place where students and their parents come to "wish for luck" before each important exam.

The surrounding residents, take advantage of spaces like Van Lake or Giam Park to gather because these two areas do not need to buy tickets. In addition to sitting and talking, playing with family and friends, and taking pets for a walk, people also exercise.

Environment

The general observation about the environment of Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is a very large green space in the middle of a bustling city. Although it is located next to the main road to go into the inner city, when I step inside, I feel like I have just escaped from the hustle and bustle of life outside to join a peaceful, green, and airy world. According to the map, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is divided into 3 main areas: Van Lake, Giam Park, and the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam area.

The first is Ho Van, located in front of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, but divided by Quoc Tu Giam Street. The lake is large 11,932m2, in the middle of the lake is the Kim Chau mound. A lake, surrounded by shady trees, causes visitors to feel cool before coming into the architecture.

The second area is Giam Park, a green space located to the west of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic along Ton Duc Thang Street. The garden has an area of 7,937 m2 with trees, water, and an Octagonal Pavilion. There's the sound of the wind, the birds, and the falling leaves here; so, the atmosphere is very light and peaceful.

Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam area is the main place to visit with many famous Vietnamese architectures. Inside is an extremely airy atmosphere with a combination of trees and small ponds, making tourists always in the most comfortable state. In particular, I love the scent of incense when going deep into the worship area

Interaction

I have noted some human-to-human interactions at the Temple of Literature. First of all, the guides in traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai give presentations to different groups of tourists to convey history as well as culture. Besides, people also gather to discuss the architecture and history of the Temple of Literature, especially foreigners, they feel impressed by the Vietnamese-style dragon and phoenix that appear continuously on the walls, doors, and even on the roof. There are also children playing in the yard, they play chase, and hide and seek while adults are visiting and learning about this historical site.

Not only that, but I also recorded other interactions, between people and objects, and surrounding scenery. People take pictures of the scenery and touch the dragon and phoenix statues for good luck. Some tourists use their phones to scan QR codes in front of each structure to listen to explanations, or some students and parents burn incense and whisper prayers for an exam.

Information

When I arrived at the Temple of Literature, what caught my eye is an information counter including ticket sales. The ticket price to visit the Temple of Literature is listed at 30,000 VND/time for both foreign and Vietnamese visitors. However, depending on different kinds of people, there are different ways to reduce the price. Some subjects will receive a 50% discount on the ticket price and others will be completely free.

Other information such as maps of the park, signage, and restricted areas or warning signs are displayed. In addition, in front of each specific structure, there is a nameplate or information board, including a QR code that visitors can read for more information or listen to explanations. Everything is recorded in at least two main languages, Vietnamese, and English, making it easy for both domestic and foreign tourists to follow.

Objects

Regarding the main area of the Temple of Literature, I am impressed by the clear planning of the overall architecture. Overall, there are two main colors, red and gray, all made from stone and wood, everything is symmetrically arranged along the red brick walkway. It is easy to see the dragon and phoenix patterns in all buildings, from doors, walls, or even on the roof. The most prominent is probably Khue Van Cac - the symbol of The Hanoi capital, which is one of the most historical, cultural, and artistic works of Thang Long and the whole country. To balance the humidity as well as the surrounding space, the two sides of the path are built with two large lotus ponds, and inside there is the famous Thien Quang well. In the side yard on both sides is an area with many seats for tourists to sit and rest, along with water kiosks or vending machines and toilets. Going deep inside is the spiritual area, arranging a lot of altars so people can enter and burn incense.
